(Hi all.   This is Adam’s mom.  Phil and I saw Adam today, May 18, at Lutherock.   He just finished working a retreat, and is getting ready to return to the trail.  After fighting for several days with internet access and losing to our notorious but glorious N.C. mountains, he tore out his days 11 to 28 handwritten blogs and entrusted them to me to post to his on-line blog!  I’m honored.   He promised to read them when he has internet access again – and to correct any errors I make.  Here goes....)

Day 11 – Muskrat Creek Shelter to Carter Gap Shelter
12.5 miles, 93.9 miles total

Today was an excellent day – the terrain was nice and easy with only one or two big uphills, and the rest was downhill or flat.
For lunch, I ate summer sausage and sharp cheddar cheese, and a few almonds.  It was delicious.

There were some great views atop Standing Indian Mountain, plus I was able to soak my feet in a big stream.   That was really nice.

Other than a great lunch and the nice stream soak, today was pretty normal.  The weather was beautiful and I enjoyed every moment,  because looking ahead, it is supposed to pour rain tomorrow and Sunday.  Don’t think that will be much fun!
